About this Documentary

Claudia Bonavita is a stand-up comedian who has been performing throughout the New York Tri-state area since 2019. By day, Claudia was a special education teacher and is currently a college professor and by night, she is a stand-up comedian. The stand-up community welcomed her with open arms and she has met some of her closet friends in comedy. While performing comedy she met so many comedians that have such stressful jobs during the day and get on stage and make people laugh at night. She was so intrigued by this concept that she had an idea for a documentary that would tell the story of these unique individuals. She contacted a friend's son, John Silecchia, who graduated from film school and pitched the idea in her usual frenetic style and the young director told her to write a treatment. As Claudia is not in the film industry , she had to go online and take online courses about how to make a documentary. She also watched presentations online on how to write a documentary treatment. She came back to John with the treatment in hand and the rest is "By Day, By Night: Working to Make People Laugh."

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by things you didn’t do than by the ones you did. So, throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails.” ~Mark Twain
